Backup Lamp: Description and Operation

When the Ignition Switch is in the RUN or the START position. voltage is available at the Backup Lamp Switch from TURN B/U Fuse 16 through the PNK (139) wire. The Backup Lamp Switch is part of the Park/Neutral Position Switch. When the transmission is placed in Reverse, the Backup Lamp Switch contacts close. This applies voltage through the LT GRN (24) wire to both Backup Lamp

Switches. Voltage is also available to the Trailer Wiring Provision Connector C406 if provided. The LH Backup Lamp is grounded through the BLK (150) wire to Ground G400. The RH Backup Lamp is grounded through the BLK (250) wire to Ground G401. When voltage is applied with the transmission in Reverse, the lamps are illuminated. Shifting to another gear or stopping the engine will cause the lamps to turn off.
