Condition
Some owners may comment about a squeak noise coming from the steering column while turning the steering wheel.
Cause
This condition may be caused by the coil assembly of the steering wheel supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) module within the steering column.
Correction
A new steering wheel SIR module coil assembly has been developed to correct this condition. Replace the SIR coil assembly on affected vehicles. Use the appropriate part number listed below. Refer to the Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil replacement procedure In the appropriate Service Manual.
On S/T models only, remove the orange Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the old coil by slitting the loop. Connect this CPA to the new coil.
