Battery Replacement (Rear)





REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Precaution Caution in Cautions and Notices.

CAUTION: Batteries produce explosive gasses. Batteries contain corrosive acid. Batteries supply levels of electrical current high enough to cause burns. Therefore, to reduce the risk of personal injury while working near a battery:
^ Always shield your eyes.
^ Avoid leaning over the battery whenever possible.
^ Do not expose the battery to open flames or sparks.
^ Do not allow battery acid to contact the eyes or the skin.
- Flush any contacted areas with water immediately and thoroughly.
- Get medical help.


1. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the negative battery terminal.
2. Disconnect the auxiliary positive and negative battery cables from the battery terminal.
3. Remove the rear battery tray from the vehicle.
4. Remove the battery hold down retaining bolt.
5. Remove the battery from the tray.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install the battery into the battery tray.
2. Connect the hold-down retainer and bolt.

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Tighten
Tighten the hold-down retainer bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

3. Install the rear battery tray to the vehicle.
4. Connect the positive and negative battery cables to the battery. Refer to Battery Cable Replacement (Battery Cable Aux Positive) and Battery Cable Replacement (Battery Cable Aux Negative). Service and Repair
5. Connect the battery negative cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Cable Replacement (Battery Disconnect/Connect). Service and Repair
