Instrument Panel Assist Handle

REMOVAL PROCEDURE


1. Remove the instrument panel passenger side knee bolster.
2. Remove the passenger Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR).
3. Remove the bolts that retain the inflatable restraint filler panel to the instrument panel, if not equipped with passenger SIR.
4. Remove the inflatable restraint filler panel from the instrument panel.
5. Press the release buttons on the instrument panel assist handle retainers (2). Pull the assist handle (1) from the instrument panel.
6. Remove the assist handle from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE


1. install the instrument panel lower extension (2) to the vehicle.
2. Connect the electrical connectors for the following components:
^ The lighter
^ The accessory plug
^ The storage compartment lamp
3. Align the instrument panel lower extension with the studs in the instrument panel and the floor.

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Install the nuts (3) that retain the top and the bottom of the lower extension.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

5. Install the bolts (4) that retain the outer edges of the instrument panel lower extension.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 6 Nm (53 lb in).

6. Install the instrument panel lower extension upper trim panel.
