Electronic Column Lock Module - Assemble

ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE





1. Install the lock bolt spring (3) into the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
2. Position the cutout in the lock bolt assembly (4) at the 6 o'clock position.
3. Install the lock bolt assembly (4) into the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
4. Push the lock bolt assembly (4) into the steering column tilt head assembly (5) until the lock bolt assembly is flush with the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
5. Align the lock module assembly (2) with the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
6. Screw the 3 TORX screws (1) into the lock module assembly (2).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

- Tighten the 3 TORX screws to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.).





7. Slide the ignition and key alarm switch assembly (2) into the lock module assembly (1).





8. Push the key alarm connector (1) into the lock module assembly (2).
9. Rotate the key alarm connector (1) 90 degrees so that the key alarm connector (1) locks into place.
10. Install the passkey connector into the lock module assembly (2).





11. Place steering column lock cylinder set into the off position.
12. Place the shift lever clevis into the park position.
13. Press the locking tab on the end of the park lock cable assembly (1) into the slot in the lock module assembly.
14. Inspect the park lock cable assembly by performing the following steps.
14.1. Insert the key into the ignition switch.
14.2. Place the steering column lock cylinder set in the OFF or the LOCK position. The gear shift lever must remain locked in the park position.
14.3. Place the steering column lock cylinder set in the RUN position.
14.4. Place the gear shift lever in the neutral position.
14.5. With the gear shift lever in the neutral position, the steering column lock cylinder set must remain out of the OFF or the LOCK position.
14.6. Place the gear shift lever in the park position.
14.7. Put the steering column lock cylinder set in the OFF or the LOCK position.
14.8. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
15. Install the upper tilt head components. Refer to Steering Column Tilt Head Assembly Assemble (Column Shift).
