Hood Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution: When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
1. Raise the hood.
2. Support the hood at the front and the rear.
3. Place protective coverings over the cowl and the fenders.
4. Remove the underhood lamp.
5. Remove the bolt (5) holding the hinge to the link assembly (6).
6. Lower the hood and support the hood.
7. Remove the outboard components of the cowl vent grille.
8. Remove the pivot bolt (7).
9. Remove the hood from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the hood to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
2. Install the pivot bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the hood to fender pivot bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
3. Install the outboard section of the cowl vent grille.
4. Raise the hood.
5. Install the bolt (5) holding the hinge to the link assembly.
Tighten
Tighten the link assembly bolts (5, 8) to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
6. Install the underhood lamp.
7. Lower the hood.
