Cylinder Head Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the intake manifold from the engine.
3. Remove the pushrods from the engine.
4. Remove the exhaust manifold(s) from the engine.
5. Remove the generator from the engine. Refer to Generator Replacement in Starting and Charging.
6. Remove the generator mounting bracket from the engine using the following steps:
6.1. Remove the three bolts holding the generator mounting bracket to the cylinder head.
6.2. Remove the bolt behind the power steering pump.
6.3. Remove the generator mounting bracket and set it aside.
7. Remove the bolt holding the oil level indicator tube to the right side cylinder head.
8. Remove the oil level indicator tube.
9. Remove the cylinder head(s) from the engine.
10. Clean and inspect all parts.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTICE: Make sure that the correct cylinder head gasket is used when re-assembling the engine. Failure to use the correct gasket may result in loss of engine performance or engine damage.
1. Install the cylinder head(s) to the engine. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation (Left). Cylinder Head Installation - Left
Refer to Cylinder Head Installation (Right). Cylinder Head Installation - Right
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the generator mounting bracket to the left side cylinder head using the four bolts.
^ Tighten the mounting bracket to the cylinder head bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs).
3. Tighten the bolt at the rear of the power steering pump.
^ Tighten the bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs).
4. Install the generator to the engine. Refer to Generator Replacement in Starting and Charging.
5. Install the exhaust manifold (s) to the engine.
6. Install the pushrods to the engine.
7. Install the intake manifold to the engine. Service and Repair
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
