SIR Steering Wheel Module Coil - Assemble

ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE





1. Install the wave washer (1).





2. Align the block tooth on the race and upper shaft assembly (1) to the 12 o'clock position.
3. Put the key in the off position and remove the keys.





4. A new SIR coil assembly will be precentered. Do not depress the tab (1) on the back of the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) coil assembly.
5. If reusing the original SIR coil assembly, refer to Inflatable Restraint Coil Centering - Off Vehicle (Column Shift And Floor Shift).





6. Align the SIR coil assembly (2) with the horn tower sticking through the shaft lock shield assembly (1).
7. Remove and discard the orange tab on a new SIR coil assembly.





8. Install the retaining ring (1).

Important: The retaining ring (1) must seat securely on the groove of the race and upper shaft assembly (2).





9. Pop the wire harness assembly (4) into the wire harness strap (5).
Install the wire harness strap (2) into the steering column tilt head assembly (1).
Install the wire harness straps (3) onto the wire harness assembly (4).
10. Install the upper and lower shrouds.
