Compressor Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the air cleaner.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Discharge and recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
5. Remove the engine cover.
7. Remove the oil filler tube.
8. Remove the compressor and condenser hose assembly.
9. Remove the compressor brace bolts and the nuts.
10. Remove the compressor brace.
11. Remove the compressor bolts.
12. Remove the compressor.
13. Drain and measure the compressor oil.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the compressor.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the compressor bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the compressor bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

3. Install the compressor braces.
4. Install the compressor brace bolts.

Tighten
^ Tighten the bolt at the compressor to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
^ Tighten the bolt at the generator bracket to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

5. Install the compressor and condenser hose assembly.
6. Install the oil filler tube.
7. Install the drive belt.
8. Install the engine cover.
9. Connect the electrical connectors.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

10. Connect the negative battery cable.
11. Evacuate and charge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
12. Ensure that no leaks exist in the system.
13. Install the air cleaner.
