Steering Column Housing - Disassemble

DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE

- Tools Required
- J 23653-SIR Lock Plate Compressor





1. Remove the SIR coil assembly. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil -Disassemble - Off Vehicle.
2. Remove and discard the bearing retainer using J 23653-SIR.





3. Remove the following parts from the steering shaft assembly:
4. The shaft lock shield assembly (1).
5. The turn signal cancel cam assembly (2).
6. The upper bearing spring (3).
7. The thrust washer (4)

STEERING COLUMN HOUSING - ASSEMBLE
ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE

- Tools Required
- J 23653-SIR Lock Plate Compressor





1. Install the following parts onto the steering shaft assembly:
2. The thrust washer (1).
3. The upper bearing spring (2).
4. Lubricate the turn signal cancel cam assembly (3).
5. The turn signal cancel cam assembly (3).
6. Install the shaft lock shield assembly (4).





7. Install the bearing retainer (1) using J 23653-SIR.
8. Install the SIR coil assembly. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil - Assemble - Off Vehicle.
