Instrument Panel (IP) - Assembly Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
3. Remove the instrument panel extension.
4. Remove the engine cover.
5. Remove the left side cowl trim panel retaining screws.
6. Remove the left side cowl trim panel.
7. Remove the driver's knee bolster.
8. Remove the steering column harness connector:
8.1. Remove the single bolt retainer in the center of the connector.
8.2. Release the upper and the lower clip retainers.

IMPORTANT: Do not remove the column. Use only the steps needed in order to lower the column for clearance.

9. Lower the steering column.
10. Remove the passenger's knee bolster.
11. Remove the right side cowl trim panel screws.
12. Remove the right side cowl trim panel.
13. Remove the power door lock delay relay and the power relay from the right cowl side panel after the trim is removed.
14. Remove the battery.
15. Remove the bolts that retain the cover to the bulkhead connector.
16. Remove the bulkhead connector.
17. Disconnect the electrical connector from the cruise control.
18. Remove the data link screws.
19. Remove the Mini-Fuse panel from the cowl.
20. Remove the convenience center.
21. Disconnect the block connector from the steering column.
22. Disconnect the brake switch electrical connector
23. Remove the drivers seat to remove the carrier through the door.
24. Remove the bolts to the steering column bracket.
25. Remove the air distributor duct.
26. Disconnect the wiring from the left side of the relieve harness out of the vehicle.
27. Remove the door trim plate.
28. Pull the carpet back to access SDM module.
29. Remove the SDM module from the vehicle.
30. Disconnect the white bulk head connector from the left side.
31. Remove the instrument panel cluster trim.
32. Remove the radio.
33. Remove the heater control.
34. Remove the instrument panel cluster.
35. Remove the power door lock relay from steering column.
36. Remove the heater core cover that retain the screws and the cover.




37. Remove the two bolts on the left and the right sides of the instrument panel that retain the instrument panel carrier to the carrier support assemblies.
38. Slide the instrument panel away from the cowl.
39. Remove the instrument panel harness from the instrument panel.




40. Lift the slide instrument panel up and oft the pivot points.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE



1. Install the instrument panel onto the pivot points.
2. Slide the instrument panel towards the cowl.




3. Install the instrument panel harness to the instrument panel.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Install the two bolts on the left and the right sides of the instrument panel that retain the instrument panel carrier to the carrier support assemblies.

Tighten
Tighten the two bolts on the left and the right sides of the instrument panel to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).

5. Install the heater core cover screws.

Tighten
Tighten the heater core cover screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

6. Install the power door lock relay from steering column.
7. Install the instrument panel cluster.
8. Install the heater control.
9. Install the radio.
10. Install the instrument panel cluster trim.
11. Connect the white bulkhead connector to the left side.
12. Install the SDM module from the vehicle.
13. Refit the carpet to cover the SDM module.
14. Install the door trim plate.
15. Connect the wiring to the left side of the relieve harness out of the vehicle.
16. Install the air distributor duct.




17. Install the bolts to the steering column lower bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to the steering column lower bracket.to 25 N.m (118 lb ft).

18. Install the drivers seat. Seat Replacement - Bucket in Seats.
19. Connect the brake switch electrical connector.
20. Connect the block connector to the steering column.
21. Install the convenience center.
22. all the Mini-Fuse panel to the cowl.
23. Install the data link screws.

Tighten
Tighten the data link screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

24. Connect the cruise control electrical connector.
25. Install the bulkhead connector.
26. Install the bolts that retain the wiring harness connectors to the bulkhead connector.

Tighten
Tighten the screws that retain the wiring harness connectors to the bulkhead connector to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

27. Install the battery.
28. Install the power door lock delay relay and the power relay at the right side cowl trim panel.
29. Install the passenger's knee bolster.
30. Install the right side cowl trim panel.
31. Install the right side cowl trim panel retaining screws.

Tighten
Tighten the right side cowl trim panel retaining screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

32. Raise the steering column.
33. Install the steering column harness connector:
33.1. Snap the upper and the lower clip retainers into place.
33.2. Install the single bolt retainer in the center of the connector.

Tighten
Tighten the single bolt retainer in the center of the connector to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

34. Install the driver's knee bolster.
35. Install the left side cowl trim panel.
36. Install the left side cowl trim panel retaining screws.

Tighten
Tighten the left side cowl trim panel retaining screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

37. Install the engine cover.
38. Install the instrument panel extension.
39. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

40. Connect the negative battery cable.
