29. Engine Block Plug Removal





1. Remove the camshaft rear bearing hole plug:
1.1. Obtain a suitable self-threading screw.
1.2. Drill a hole into the plug.
1.3. Install the self-threading screw.
1.4. Pull on the plug until it has left the bore.

Notice: Do not damage the camshaft bearings.

1.5. An alternate method to remove the plug would be to insert a long shaft or bar through the front of the engine and drive the plug from the bore.





2. Remove the engine block expansion plugs from both sides of block.
2.1. Obtain a suitable self-threading screw.
2.2. Drill a hole into the plug.
2.3. Install the self-threading screw.
2.4. Pull on the plug until it has left the bore.





3. Remove the engine block coolant drain hole plugs.





4. Remove the left side knock sensor shield bolts.
5. Remove the left side knock sensor shield.





6. Remove the left side knock sensor (1).
7. Remove the right side knock sensor (2).





8. Remove the engine block oil cooler plugs (without oil cooler).





9. Remove the engine block oil cooler hose fittings (with oil cooler).





10. Remove the rear oil gallery plugs.





11. Remove the front oil gallery plugs.





12. Remove the left side oil gallery plugs.





13. Remove the top oil gallery plugs.
