Illuminated Entry
All of the vehicles which do not use the remote keyless entry use the illuminated entry module. The illuminated entry module provides for a delayed turn-off of the dome lamps and the stepwell lamps after the closure of the last door. After the last door closes, the module keeps the lights illuminated until either the internal timer times out, or the ignition switch moves into the START position or into the RUN position. The illuminated entry module receives operating voltage at all time from the POWER ACCY fuse A through CKT 540 (ORN). The module has ground at ground G201 through CKT 150 (BLK).
The module senses that a door is open by a ground input on CKT 157 (GRY). The module senses the ground input only when the dome lamp defeat push-button switch is not in the depressed position. When push-button is in the retracted position, or the out position, contacts close in order to connect CKT 328 (PPL) from the door jamb switches to CKT 157 (GRY). CKT 328 (PPL) from the dome lamp defeat switch connects to each of the vehicle's door jamb switches. The left front door jamb switch and the right from door jamb switch are standard for all of the models. The side door jamb switch and the rear door jamb switch are not available on the cutaway models or the upfitter models. When the associated door is open, the jamb switch contacts close in order to connect CKT 328 (PPL) to ground. The left front door jamb switch and the right front door jamb switch have ground in CKT 150 (BLK) to ground G201 or to ground G200 (upfitter provisions). The side door jamb switch has ground in CKT 150 (BLK) to ground G402. The rear door jamb switch has ground in CKT 250 (BLK) to ground G401.
When an open door condition is present, the illuminated entry module closes the internal contact equivalents which connect CKT 156 (WHT) from the lamps to ground G201. This action occurs immediately. When all of the doors close, the grounded wire of CKT 157 (GRY) loses input. However, the module maintains the internal contacts closed for several seconds. When the ignition switch moves to the RUN position or the START position while the lamps are illuminated, the internal contacts immediately open in order to extinguish the lamps. The signal that the ignition switch is in the RUN position or in the START position is from GAUGES fuse 4 through CKT 39 (PNK).
