Front Lower

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Raise the vehicle. Support the lower control arm with safety stands or a floor jack.

CAUTION: Floor jack must remain under the lower control arm during removal and installation to retain the lower control arm in position. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

2. Remove the tire and wheel.
3. Remove the front brake caliper.
4. Remove the hub and rotor. Refer to Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement.
5. Remove the lower ball joint from the Steering Knuckle. Refer to Lower Ball Joint Replacement.
6. Remove the coil spring. Refer to Front Coil Springs Replacement.





7. Remove the nuts and the bolts from the lower control arm pivot joints.
8. Remove the lower control arm.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
- Avoid pounding the bolts or any excessive force when installing the control arm to the frame.
- Always inspect the frame attachment hole for elongation greater than 1 mm clearance around the bolt in any direction at any location. If 1 mm gap or other evidence of damage is detected, repair the frame as required.
Install the coil spring. Refer to Front Coil Springs Replacement.

IMPORTANT: The pivot bolts must be installed in the proper direction.

The nuts must be tightened with the control arm at Z height. Refer to Trim Height Inspection Procedure in Suspension General Diagnosis.





1. Install the new bolts and the nuts that retain the lower control arm to the frame.

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

- Tighten the nuts to 155 Nm (115 ft. lbs.).

2. Install the lower ball joint to the steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Ball Joint Replacement.
3. Install the hub and rotor. Refer to Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement.
4. Install the front brake caliper.
5. Install the tire and wheel.
6. Remove the safety stands.
7. Lower the vehicle.
