A/T Shift Lock Control - Assemble

ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE





1. Install the electrical brake transmission system interlock actuator onto the steering column jacket assembly.
Put the steering column in the NEUTRAL position.





2. Adjust the electrical brake transmission system interlock actuator.
2.1. Pull out the tab (1) on the adjuster block side (2) of the electrical brake transmission system interlock actuator.
2.2. Press on the adjuster block (2) to disengage the adjuster teeth. Slide the adjuster block (2) as far away from the solenoid as possible.
2.3. Lock the adjuster block in place by pushing inward on the tab (1).
3. Inspect the electrical brake transmission system interlock actuator.
3.1. The electrical brake transmission system interlock actuator must lock the shift lever clevis when the shift lever clevis is put into the PARK position.
3.2. When the column is installed in the vehicle you must depress the brake pedal in order to move the gear shift lever out of the PARK position. The solenoid will be energized.
3.3. Readjust the electrical brake transmission system interlock actuator if needed.
4. Install the upper and lower shrouds. Refer to Trim Covers, Shift Lever Seal - Assemble - Off Vehicle.
