Oil Filter: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure





1. Open the hood.
2. Raise the vehicle and support with safety stands. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the oil filter from the engine block.
4. Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil into a suitable container.

Installation Procedure





1. Lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the oil filter to the engine block.
Tighten the oil filter to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).





3. Install the drain plug to the engine block.
Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
4. Remove the safety stands.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Fill the crankcase with oil. Refer to Capacities - Approximate Fluid.
7. Close the hood.
