69. Camshaft Installation

Camshaft Installation

1. Lubricate the following components with clean engine oil, engine oil supplement GM P/N 1052367, or equivalent:

* The camshaft lobes
* The camshaft bearing journals
* The camshaft bearings

Notice: All camshaft journals are the same diameter, so care must be used in removing or installing the camshaft to avoid damage to the camshaft bearings.




2. Install the three 5/16-18 x 4.0 inch bolts in the camshaft front bolt holes.
3. Using the bolts as a handle, install the camshaft.
4. Remove the three bolts from the front of the camshaft.




5. Install the camshaft retainer.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

6. Install the camshaft retainer bolts.

Tighten the camshaft retainer bolts to 12 Nm (106 lb in).
