Functional Check
1. Cycle the temperature selection button in the HOT and COLD mode in order to make sure the control assembly is operating properly.
2. Set the temperature selection button in the COLD position.
3. Set the blower switch button to the highest fan speed setting.
4. Ensure that the air from the instrument panel outlets is nearly the same temperature as the outside air.
5. Press the Upper/Lower Vent button.
* Ensure that the air comes from the floor outlets and the instrument panel outlets.
* Air should not come from the air defroster ducts or the defogger outlets.
6. Press the Defrost/Lower Vent button.
* Ensure that most of the air is directed onto the windshield from the air defroster ducts.
* A small amount of air should be discharged from the floor outlets.
7. Lower the blower switch toward the low fan speed position, stopping briefly at each intermediate blower speed position. Notice the force of the airflow coming from the instrument panel center outlets. Listen to the sound of the blower. Ensure that both the airflow and the blower noise are reduced noticeably at each intermediate step.
