Interior Lights Dimming Circuit Description

Interior Lights Dimming Circuit Description

The interior lamps dimming system operates to provide a variable level of illumination at the speedometer and control switches. By adjusting the position of the IP lamps dimmer switch on the IP cluster, a variable voltage supplies to the system lamps and components.

Power is available at all times at the DOME/PANEL circuit breaker. The power is supplied to the headlamp switch through CKT 1040 (ORN). When the headlamp switch is position in either the PARK or HEAD positions, the switch supplies power to the IP lamps dimmer switch through CKT 13 (LT BLU). The IP lamps dimmer switch contains a variable resistor which, depending on the position, will limit the amount of power passing to the interior lamps.
