Discharge Hose Replacement (LG5)

Removal Procedure

1. Discharge and recover the refrigerant from the vehicle. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.





Important: When removing the sealing washers, prevent dirt and foreign material from getting onto the sealing surfaces of the following components:


* The washers

* The hose fittings

* The compressor ports


Clean all of the surfaces with a lint-free cloth.


2. Remove the compressor hose fitting, clamp, bolt and washer.




3. Remove the compressor sealing washers.
Discard the compressor sealing washers.




4. Remove the refrigerant hoses from the compressor.
5. Remove the following components from the compressor:

1. The bolt
2. The washers
3. The hose clamp
4. The nut

6. Remove the following components from the condenser:

1. 7.1 The bolt
2. 7.2 The washers
3. 7.3 The hose clamp
4. 7.4 The nut




7. Remove the condenser hose fitting.
8. Remove the O-ring seal.
9. Discard the O-ring seal.

Installation Procedure

1. Coat the NEW O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
2. Install the NEW O-ring seal in the condenser end of the refrigerant hose.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Connect the condenser hose fitting to the condenser.

Tighten the condenser hose fitting to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).

4. Install the following components at the condenser:

1. The bolt
2. The washer
3. The hose clamp
4. The nut

Tighten the condenser hose clamp bolt to 11 Nm (97 lb in).

5. Install the following components at the compressor:

1. The bolt
2. The washer
3. The hose clamp
4. The nut

Tighten the compressor hose clamp bolt to 29 Nm (21 lb in).





Important: When installing the sealing washers, prevent dirt and foreign material from getting on the sealing surfaces of the following components:


* The washers

* The hose fittings

* The compressor ports


Do not reuse the sealing washers.


Do not oil the sealing washers prior to assembly.


Clean all of the sealing surfaces with a lint-free cloth.


6. Install NEW sealing washers onto the pilots of the fittings. Ensure that the washers bottom against the surface of the hose fittings.





Important: Ensure that there is a 1.2 mm (0.047 in) space between the hose fittings and the compressor rear head.


7. Install the compressor hose fittings, clamp, washer and the bolt.

Tighten the compressor hose clamp fittings bolt to 35 Nm (26 lb ft).

8. Add the refrigerant to the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
9. Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to Leak Testing Leak Testing.
