Suction Hose Replacement (LG5)

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.





Important: When removing the sealing washers, prevent dirt and foreign material from getting onto the sealing surfaces of the following components:


* The washers

* The hose fittings

* The compressor ports


3. Remove the compressor hose bolt.




4. Remove the refrigerant hoses from the compressor.
Discard the compressor sealing washers.
5. Remove the compressor suction hose from the accumulator.
6. Remove and discard the O-ring seal.

Installation Procedure

1. Coat the NEW O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.




2. Install the NEW O-ring seal in accumulator end of the suction hose.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Connect the compressor suction hose to the accumulator.
4. Tighten the suction hose nut at the accumulator.

Tighten the nut to 32 Nm (24 lb ft).





Important: When removing the sealing washers, prevent dirt and foreign material from getting onto the sealing surfaces of the following components:


* The washers

* The hose fittings

* The compressor ports


5. Install NEW sealing washers onto the pilots of the fittings. Ensure that the washers bottom against the surface of the hose fittings.





Important: Ensure that there is a 1.2 mm (0.047 in) space between the hose clamp and the compressor rear head.


6. Connect the compressor hose clamp, washer and the bolt.
7. Tighten the compressor hose nut.

Tighten the bolt to 35 Nm (26 lb ft).

8. Install the following components to the accumulator:

* The bolt
* The washers
* The hose clamp
* The nut

9. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
10. Leak test the fitting(s) of the component using the J 39400-A .
11. Install the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
