Knock Sensor Replacement - Bank 1
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair in General Information.
3. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
Important: The knock sensor is located in the engine block. The knock sensors are installed in a hole that is exposed to engine coolant. Care should be exercised when servicing these sensors.
4. Remove bank 1 knock sensor shield.
5. Remove the wiring harness connector from bank 1 knock sensor.
6. Remove bank 1 knock sensor (2) from the engine block (1).
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in Cautions and Notices.
1. Install and tighten the bank 1 knock sensor (2) into the engine block (1).
Tighten the knock sensor to 19 Nm (14 lb ft).
2. Install the wiring harness connector to the bank 1 knock sensor.
3. Install and the tighten bank 1 knock sensor shield to the engine block.
Tighten the shield to 40 Nm (29 lb ft).
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
