Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor: Service and Repair




Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Replacement

Other than checking for a worn grommet and loose electrical connections, the only service possible is unit replacement, if the diagnosis shows the sensor to be faulty.

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the upper intake manifold, refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (Upper Intake Manifold) Intake Manifold Replacement (Upper Intake Manifold)Intake Manifold Replacement (Lower Intake Manifold) Intake Manifold Replacement (Lower Intake Manifold) in Engine Mechanical.




3. Disconnect the electrical connector releasing locking tab.
4. Remove the nut (1) and retainer (2).
5. Remove MAP sensor (3).

Installation Procedure





Important: Lightly coat the MAP sensor seal and intake manifold with a small amount of GM lubricant P/N 9985662 or equivalent may be used on the MAP sensor seal and intake manifold only, to aid in installation.


1. Install the MAP sensor (3) and new seal, push down to engage it into the intake manifold.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the retainer (2) and nut (1).

Tighten the nut to 25 Nm (19 lb ft).

3. Connect the electrical connector.
4. Install the upper intake manifold, refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (Upper Intake Manifold) Intake Manifold Replacement (Upper Intake Manifold)Intake Manifold Replacement (Lower Intake Manifold) Intake Manifold Replacement (Lower Intake Manifold) in Engine Mechanical.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
