Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement
Removal Procedure
Notice: Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.
1. Relieve the coolant pressure.
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Drain the cooling system below the level of the sensor.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector (3) releasing locking tab.
5. Remove the ECT sensor (2).
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in Cautions and Notices.
1. Coat the threads (only) with sealer P/N 9985253. Install the ECT sensor (2).
Tighten the ECT sensor to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).
2. Connect the electrical connector locking tab (3) to the bracket (1).
3. Connect the electrical harness connector (3) to the ECT sensor (2).
4. Refill the coolant system.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
