Starter Motor Relay Not Operating Properly

The starter motor relay is located in the engine compartment, on the lower right side of the cowl.
The starter motor relay for vehicles with automatic transmissions is also located in the engine compartment, on the lower right side of the cowl.
Use the following procedure in order to prevent the engine from starting while performing the relay tests:
1. Disconnect the ignition and tachometer harness from the distributor on gasoline engines.
2. Disconnect the fuel shut off solenoid connector on diesel engine models.
3. Shift the transmission into the NEUTRAL position.
4. Block the wheels.
