Ignition Lock Cylinder Case Replacement - On Vehicle

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the steering column lock cylinder set. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle.




2. Remove the thrust washer.




3. Remove the 4 hex washer head tapping screws (1) from the lock housing cover assembly (2).
4. Remove the lock housing cover assembly (2) from the steering column jacket assembly (4).
5. Remove the floor shift bowl (3) from the jacket assembly (4) with the switch actuator rod still attached.




6. Remove the 3 pan head 6-lobed socket screws (3).




7. Remove the upper bearing retainer (3).
8. Remove the bearing retaining bushing (2).
9. Remove the bearing assembly (1).

Installation Procedure




1. Lubricate and install the bearing assembly (1).
2. Install the bearing retaining bushing (2).
3. Install the upper bearing retainer (3).





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Install the 3 pan head 6-lobed socket screws (3) through the bowl assembly (2), into the lock housing cover assembly (1).

Tighten screws to 3.5 Nm (31 lb in).




5. Install the floor shift bowl (3) with the lock housing cover assembly (2) onto the steering column jacket assembly (4). The switch actuator rod should still be attached.
6. Install the 4 hex washer head tapping screws (1) into the lock housing cover assembly (2).

Tighten the screws to 5.3 Nm (47 lb in).




7. Install the thrust washer.
8. Install the steering column lock cylinder set. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle.
