Lubricant Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the front differential carrier shield. Refer to Shield Replacement.
2. Remove the fill plug (1).
3. Remove the drain plug (2).
4. Drain the fluid from the differential.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





1. Install the drain plug (2).
Tighten the plug to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).
2. Fill the front differential with lubricant until the level is 12 mm (0.5 inch) below the fill plug. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations.
3. Install the fill plug (1).
Tighten the plug to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the front differential carrier shield. Refer to Shield Replacement.
