Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
^ Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.
^ Refer to Inflator Module Handling And Storage Caution in Cautions and Notices.




1. Disable the SIR system.
2. Remove upper IP trim panel to access the two of the four bolts.
3. Open the instrument panel compartment door, lift stop and allow door to fully open.
4. Remove the yellow 2-way electrical harness connector (1) at the left side of the mounting bracket.
5. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) (2) from the yellow 2-way electrical harness connector (1).




6. Remove the inflatable restraint IP module (1) from the front of the instrument panel. Ensure that you keep a firm hold of the IP module.
7. Remove the inflatable restraint IP module yellow pigtail connector (2) from the yellow 2-way electrical harness connector (3).
8. Remove the fasteners attaching the inflatable restraint IP module to the mounting bracket.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the inflatable restraint IP module (1) to the mounting bracket through the front of the instrument panel.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the fasteners to the inflatable restraint IP module.

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Install the inflatable restraint IP module yellow pigtail connector (2) to the yellow 2-way electrical harness connector (3).
4. Install the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) (4).
5. Install the yellow 2-way electrical harness connector (3) to the left side of the mounting bracket.
6. Close the instrument panel compartment door.
7. Install the two retaining bolts.
8. Install the upper IP trim panel.
9. Enable the SIR system.
