INFORMATION

Subject:
New Product Information - Oxygen Sensor Usage and Diagnostics

Models:
2000 Chevrolet and GMC C/K Models with 7.4L Engine (VIN J - RPO L29)

This bulletin is being revised to delete the table of DTC codes. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 00-06-04-010 (Section 06 - Engine/Propulsion System).

A unique heated Oxygen Sensor has been designed exclusively for use on 2000 C/K models with the 7.4L (RPO L29) engine.

The Oxygen (02) Sensor is exclusive to this application and is not to be interchanged with any other oxygen sensor available. The sensor can be used only with C/K models using the L29 engine. The unique 02 sensor on the C/K model requires a different calibration. The connector design is only used on this 02 sensor to eliminate installation of the incorrect 02 sensor. The 2000 L29 will also have a change to the post catalyst Oxygen Sensor or the monitoring Oxygen Sensor. The sensor will not be installed on Federal emission vehicles (RPO NF2). California emission vehicles over 14,000 GVW will also eliminate the monitoring Oxygen Sensor behind the catalytic converter. There will be a plug installed in the exhaust in place of the post Oxygen Sensor. There is no labor operation for the plug. Please use Labor Operation L2100 or L2101 for Plug R&R.

This illustration shown depicts the differences in 02 sensors between the prior 02 sensor (Figure 1) and the new 02 sensor and it's unique connector (Figure 2).
