5. External Components Assemble

1. Apply RTV sealer GM P/N 12345739 or equivalent to the new bearing retainer sealing surfaces.
2. Install the rear bearing retainer bolts to the rear case.
^ Tighten the bolts to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Connect the four-wheel drive indicator switch to the front case half.
^ Tighten the switch to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the speed sensor and the bolt to the rear bearing retainer.
^ Tighten the bolt to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the following components to the rear output shaft:
^ The rear output yoke
^ The rubber sealing washer
^ The flat washer
^ The rear output yoke nut
^ Tighten the nut to 170 Nm (125 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the following components to the front output shaft:
^ The front output yoke
^ The rubber sealing washer
^ The flat washer
^ The front output yoke nut
^ Tighten the nut to 224 Nm (165 ft. lbs.).
