Stabilizer Bar: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.





3. Remove the stabilizer link nuts.





4. Remove the stabilizer link bolts.
- Pull the bolts down through the retainers, the insulators, and the link spacer.
- These components will come free, along with the ends of the stabilizer shaft.





5. Remove the insulator clamp bolts.
6. Remove the insulator clamps.
7. Remove the stabilizer shaft.
8. Remove the insulators from the stabilizer shaft.
9. Inspect all of the parts for wear and damage.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the insulators on the stabilizer shaft. Position the slit on the insulator toward the front of the vehicle.





2. Install the stabilizer shaft and the clamps by doing the following:
2.1. Mount the stabilizer shaft with the identification facing on the right side of the vehicle.
2.2. Install the offset in the stabilizer shaft in the downward position.
2.3. Position the insulators squarely in the clamps.
2.4. Install the insulator clamp bolts in the proper holes.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





3. Install the following stabilizer link parts in position:
- The retainers
- The insulators
- The link
- The spacers
- The bolts
- The nuts
- Tighten the clamp bolts to 36 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the link nut to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
5. Lower the vehicle.
