Multifunction, Turn Signal & Hazard Switch

1. Place the multifunction lever in the center or the OFF position.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
3. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
4. Remove the steering wheel inflator module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Restraint Systems.
5. Remove the horn plunger contact. Refer to Horn Switch Replacement- On Vehicle.
6. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement.





7. Remove the tilt wheel lever (tilt steering column only).
8. Remove the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle.
9. Remove the upper shroud.
10. Remove the wire harness strap.
11. Remove the 2 wire harness straps from the steering column wire harness.
12. Remove the steering column wire harness from the instrument panel wire harness.
13. Disconnect the gray and the black switch connectors from the steering column connector.
14. Remove the 2 TORX screws.
15. Remove the multifunction turn signal/hazard switch assembly.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the multifunction turn signal/hazard switch assembly as follows:
1.1. Use a small blade screwdriver in order to compress the electrical contact.
1.2. Move the multifunction switch into position. The multifunction switch electrical contact must rest on the canceling cam assembly.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the 2 TORX screws.
Tighten the 2 TORX screws to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
3. Connect the gray and the black switch connectors to the steering column connector.
4. Connect the steering column connector to the instrument panel wire harness.
5. Install the 2 wire harness straps to the steering column wire harness.
6. Install the wire harness strap.
7. Install the upper shroud.
8. Install the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle.
9. Place the lever in the center or the OFF position.
10. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement.
11. Install the horn plunger contact. Refer to Horn Switch Replacement - On Vehicle.
12. Install the steering wheel inflator module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Restraint Systems.
13. Enable the SIR System. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
14. Connect the battery negative cable.
