Oil Replacement
Removal Procedure1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the fill plug.
3. Place a container under the drain plug in order to catch the oil.
4. Remove the drain plug. Allow the oil to drain.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Important:
^ Ensure the drain plug is made of aluminum. A steel drain plug will cause accelerated corrosion that will destroy the magnesium case.
^ Do not use an impact tool to install the drain plug.
1. Install the drain plug.
^ Tighten the drain plug to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.)
2. Fill the transfer case with oil. Refer to Capacities - Approximate Fluid
3. Fill the transfer case to the bottom of the oil fill plug hole.
Important:
^ Ensure the fill plug is made of aluminum. A steel fill plug will cause accelerated corrosion that will destroy the magnesium case.
^ Do not use an impact tool to install the fill plug.
4. Install the oil fill plug.
^ Tighten the oil fill plug to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.)
5. Lower the vehicle.
