Illuminated Entry

Vehicles which do not have remote keyless entry are equipped with an illuminated entry module. The illuminated entry module provides a delayed turn-off of the dome lamps and stepwell lamps. The illuminated entry module receives operating voltage at all times from the POWER ACCY fuse A through CKT 540 (ORN). The module is grounded at G201 through CKT 150 (BLK).

After the doors have been closed, the module keeps the lights illuminated for approximately 40 seconds, or until the ignition switch is placed in the START or RUN position. The RUN or START position signal is carried by CKT 39 (PNK) from the GAUGES fuse.

All models have a left front door jamb switch and a right from door jamb switch, but the cutaway models and upfitter models do not have a side door jamb switch or rear door jamb switch. When a door is opened, the jamb switch contacts connect CKT 328 (PPL) to ground. If the dome lamp override push-button has not been pressed, the module senses that a door is open. The module senses a ground input through CKT 157 (GRY) and CKT 328 (PPL).

While a door is is open, the illuminated entry module turns on the courtesy lamps by connecting CKT 156 (WHT) to ground. When all of the doors are closed, the module keeps the lamps on until the ignition switch moves to the RUN or START position.
