Accessory Drive Belt Noise

2001 Chevrolet and GMC C/K Pickup Models
with 4.8 L, 5.3 L, or 6.0 L Engine (VINS V, T, U - RPOs LR4, LM7, L04)
Built at Janesville Plant (VIN J) between December 19, 2000 and July 23, 2001
Condition
Some owners may comment on an accessory drive noise. Sometimes, this noise can be mis-diagnosed as alternator noise.
Cause
The power steering pump pulley may be misaligned with the end of the pump shaft.
Correction
In addition to normal service for the above condition, it is critical that the pulley is flush with the end of the power steering pump shaft. If it is not, reference the appropriate Service Manual for proper service instructions about using the J-25034-C Power Steering Pump Pulley Remover to reposition the pulley.
