This bulletin is being revised to include additional model year and part information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 00-06-01-015A (Section 06 - Engine/Propulsion System).

During the 2000 and 2001 model year, two different designs of Engine Oil Indicator and Engine Oil Indicator Tubes were used in production vehicles.

Each Engine Oil Indicator must be used with the correct Engine Oil Indicator Tube. Incorrect engine oil levels will be indicated if an Engine Oil Indicator is used with the wrong Engine Oil Indicator Tube. In some instances, the Check Engine Oil Level message may be displayed when the engine oil level is 1 quart (approx. 0.95 Liters) low. Do not replace the engine oil level sensor for this condition.

Engine Oil Indicators and Tubes can be identified as follows (Figure 1 shown - Engine Oil Level Indicator and Tube Identification):

Engine Oil Level Indicators (1) can be identified by the P/N stamped on the blade (6).
Second design Engine Oil Level Indicator Tubes (2) can be identified as having two reinforcements in the mounting bracket (5). First design Engine Oil Level Indicator Tubes (3) can be identified as having a single reinforcement in the mounting bracket (4).
