Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Snap On Shrouds

- J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Important: If the snap on/off feature on the trim covers was damaged during the removal procedure, you must use screws for the installation procedure. If screws were present in the trim covers before the removal procedure, you must use the screws during the installation procedure. If there was not any damage done to the trim covers during the removal procedure and no screws were present, proceed to step 3.





1. Install the upper trim cover (2) onto the steering column. Install 1 TORX head screw (1) into the upper trim cover (2).
- Tighten the screw to 1.5 Nm (13 inch lbs.).





2. Install the lower trim cover (3) onto the steering column. Install 2 pan head tapping screws (1, 2) into the lower trim cover (3).
- Tighten 1 pan head tapping screw (1) to 3.5 Nm (31 inch lbs.).
- Tighten 1 pan head tapping screw (2) to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.).





Important: The abrasion sleeve must be installed back onto the steering column wire harness assembly. The electronic lock module assembly wires and connector must be hanging out of the middle of the abrasion sleeve.

3. Install the shift lever seal (2) onto the shift lever assembly (4).
4. Install the shift lever assembly (4) and secure it with the shift lever screw (3).
- Tighten the screw to 1.5 Nm (13 inch lbs.).





5. Install the upper and lower trim covers onto the steering column.

Important: The shift lever seal must be seated in the trim covers.

6. Slide the shift lever seal down the shift lever.
7. Gently snap the upper and lower trim covers together.





8. Push the tilt knob back into the lower trim cover.
9. Remove the steering column and J 41352 from the vise.
