Turn Signal Cancel Cam & Upper Bearing Inner Race

Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Upper Bearing Inner Race - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Column Shift)
- Tools Required
- J 23653-SIR Lock Plate Compressor

1. If the steering column has an inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil - Disassemble - Off Vehicle.
Let the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil hang freely after removal.
Proceed to step 3.
2. If the steering column does not have an inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle.
3. Compress the shaft lock shield assembly (2) using J 23653-SIR.

4. Remove and dispose of the bearing retainer (1).
5. Remove J 23653-SIR.
6. Remove the shaft lock shield assembly (2).
7. Remove the turn signal cancel cam assembly (3).
8. Remove the upper bearing spring (4).
9. Remove the upper bearing inner race seat (5).
10. Remove the inner race (6).

- J 23653-SIR Lock Plate Compressor

1. Let the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil hang freely after removal.
2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil - Disassemble - Off Vehicle.
3. Compress the shaft lock shield assembly (2) using J 23653-SIR

4. Remove and dispose of the bearing retainer (1).
5. Remove J 23653-SIR.
6. Remove the shaft lock shield assembly (2).
7. Remove the turn signal cancel cam assembly (3).
8. Remove the upper bearing spring (4).
9. Remove the upper bearing inner race seat (5).
10. Remove the inner race (6).

Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Upper Bearing Inner Race - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Column Shift)

- J 23653-SIR Lock Plate Compressor

1. Lubricate and install the inner race (1).
2. Install the upper bearing inner race seat (2).
3. Install the upper bearing spring (3).
4. Lubricate the brass surface of the turn signal cancel cam assembly (4) with lithium grease.
5. Install the turn signal cancel cam assembly (4).
6. Install the shaft lock assembly onto the steering shaft assembly.

7. Compress the shaft lock shield assembly (2) using J 23653-SIR.
8. Install the new bearing retainer (1) onto the steering shaft. The bearing retainer must be firmly seated in the groove on the race and upper shaft assembly.
9. Remove J 23653-SIR.
10. If the steering column has an inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil - Assemble - Off Vehicle.
11. If the steering column does not have an inflatable restrains" steering wheel module coil. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle.
