Electronic Column Lock Module

Electronic Column Lock Module - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Column Shift)





1. Remove the upper head components. Refer to Steering Column jacket- Disassemble - Off Vehicle.
2. Remove the key alarm connector (1) from the electronic lock module assembly (2).
3. Remove the 2 tapping screws from the ignition key alarm switch assembly (3).
4. Let the switch hang freely.





5. Remove the park lock cable (1) from the electronic lock module assembly.





6. Remove the 3 pan head tapping screws (1) from the electronic lock module assembly (2).

Important: The lock bolt assembly (4) is under slight spring tension from the lock bolt spring (3). Hold the lock bolt (4) in place while removing the electronic lock module assembly (2).

7. Remove the electronic lock module assembly (2) and the lock bolt assembly (4) from the steering column housing assembly (5).
8. Remove the lock bolt spring (3) from the lock bolt assembly (4).

Electronic Column Lock Module - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Floor Shift)





1. Remove the steering column jacket. Refer to Steering Column Jacket- Disassemble - Off Vehicle.
2. Remove the key alarm connector (1) from the electronic lock module assembly (2).
3. Remove the 2 tapping screws from the ignition key alarm switch assembly (3).





4. Remove the 3 pan head tapping screws (1) from the electronic lock module assembly (2).

Important: The lock bolt assembly (4) is under slight spring tension from the lock bolt spring (3). Hold the lock bolt (4) in place while removing the electronic lock module assembly (2).

5. Remove the electronic lock module assembly (2) and the lock bolt assembly (4) from the steering column housing assembly (5).
6. Remove the lock bolt spring (3) from the lock bolt assembly (4).

Electronic Column Lock Module - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Column Shift)





1. Install the lock bolt spring (3) into the steering column housing assembly (5).
2. Position the cutout in the lock bolt assembly (4) at the 6 o'clock position.
3. Install the lock bolt assembly (4) into the steering column housing assembly (5).
4. Push the lock bolt assembly (4) into the steering column housing assembly (5) until the lock bolt assembly is flush with the steering column housing assembly (5).
5. Align the electronic lock module assembly (2) with the steering column housing assembly (5). Install the electronic lock module assembly (2) onto the steering column housing assembly (5).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

6. Screw the 3 pan head tapping screws (1) into the electronic lock module assembly (2).
- Tighten the 3 pan head tapping screws to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.).





7. Install the ignition and key alarm switch assembly (3) onto the electronic lock module assembly (2) and secure by using the 2 tapping screws.
- Tighten the screws to 4.7 Nm (42 inch lbs.).
8. Install the key alarm connector (1) onto the electronic lock module assembly (2).





9. Install the park lock cable (1) into the electronic lock module assembly.
10. Place steering column lock cylinder set into the OFF position.
11. Place the shift lever clevis into the PARK position.
12. Press the locking tab on the end of the park lock cable assembly (1) into the slot in the electronic lock module assembly.
13. Inspect the park lock cable assembly by performing the following steps:
13.1. Insert the key into the ignition switch.
13.2. Place the steering column lock cylinder set in the OFF-LOCK position. The gear shift lever must remain locked in the PARK position.
13.3. Place the steering column lock cylinder set in the RUN position.
13.4. Place the gear shift lever in the NEUTRAL position.
13.5. With the gear shift lever in the NEUTRAL position, the steering column lock cylinder set must remain out of the OFF-LOCK position.
13.6. Place the gear shift lever in the PARK position.
13.7. Put the steering column lock cylinder set in the OFF-LOCK position.
13.8. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
14. Install the steering column jacket. Refer to Steering Column Jacket - Assemble - Off Vehicle.

Electronic Column Lock Module - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Floor Shift)





1. Install the lock bolt spring (3) into the steering column housing assembly (5).
2. Position the cutout in the lock bolt assembly (4) at the 6 o'clock position.
3. Install the lock bolt assembly (4) into the steering column housing assembly (5).
4. Push the lock bolt assembly (4) into the steering column housing assembly (5) until the lock bolt assembly is flush with the steering column housing assembly (5).
5. Align the electronic lock module assembly (2) with the steering column housing assembly (5). Install the electronic lock module assembly (2) onto the steering column housing assembly (5).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

6. Screw the 3 pan head tapping screws (1) into the electronic lock module assembly (2).
- Tighten the 3 pan head tapping screws to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.).





7. Install the ignition and key alarm switch assembly (3) onto the electronic lock module assembly (2) and secure by using the 2 tapping screws.
- Tighten the screws to 4.7 Nm (42 inch lbs.).
8. Install the key alarm connector (1) onto the electronic lock module assembly (2).
9. Install the steering column jacket. Refer to Steering Column Jacket - Assemble - Off Vehicle.
