Tilt Head Housing - Disassemble

- J 23653-SIR Lock Plate Compressor

Important: Let the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil hang freely after removal.





1. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Coil Centering - Off Vehicle (Column Shift And Floor Shift).
2. Compress the cam orientation using J 23653-SIR.
3. Remove the bearing retainer from the steering column shaft assembly.
4. Discard the bearing retainer.
5. Remove J 23653-SIR from the steering column shaft assembly.





6. Remove the following parts from the steering column shaft assembly:
6.1. The cam orientation plate (5)
6.2. The turn signal cancel cam assembly (4)
6.3. The upper bearing spring (3)
6.4. The upper bearing inner race seat (2)
6.5. The inner race (1)
