Condenser Tube Replacement (L18)
Tools Required
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet front duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 8.1L.
4. Remove the bolt securing the condenser tube (7) to the core support.
5. Remove the bolt (4) securing the condenser tube (7) to the condenser bracket.
6. Loosen the condenser tube nut.
7. Disconnect the condenser fitting from the condenser tube (7).
8. Remove both O-ring seals (3,6).
9. Remove the condenser tube (7) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the condenser tube (7) to the vehicle.
Important: Coat the O-ring seal (6) with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
2. Install a new O-ring seal (6).
3. Install the condenser tube fitting to the receiver dehydrator.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
4. Tighten the condenser tube nut.
Tighten the nut to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).
Important: Coat the O-ring seal (6) with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
5. Install a new O-ring seal (6).
6. Connect the condenser fitting to the condenser tube (7).
7. Tighten the condenser tube nut.
Tighten the nut to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).
8. Install the bolt (4) securing the condenser tube (7) to the condenser bracket.
Tighten the bolt to 2.9 Nm (26 lb in).
9. Install the bolt securing the condenser tube (7) to the core support.
Tighten the bolt to 2.9 Nm (26 lb in).
10. Install the air cleaner outlet front duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 8.1L.
11. Install the right wheel house. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
12. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
13. Leak test the fitting(s) of the repaired or reinstalled components using the J 39400-A .
