OnStar (R) Vehicle Communication Unit (VCU) Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the IP trim pad.
2. Remove the IP cluster harness in order to gain access to the VCU bracket screw.
3. Remove the screw securing the VCU to the bracket.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
5. Remove the VCU from the bracket.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: In order to avoid damage to the circuit board, do NOT over-tighten the thumb screws. Using your fingers, apply only a light pressure.




1. Install the VCU to the bracket.
2. Connect the electrical connectors to the VCU.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the screw.

Tighten
Tighten the screw to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

4. Install the IP cluster harness.
5. Install the IP trim pad.
6. Contact the OnStar Dealer support line to configure the system.
