Temperature Sensors

When the vehicle operator determines what level of A/C is desired, the automatic system uses multiple sensors to achieve and maintain the desired temperature. The HVAC module software receives input of the passenger compartment air temperature from the [1][2]inside air temperature sensor assembly. A fan located internally to the inside air temperature sensor assembly housing continually draws passenger compartment air over the sensor. The fan receives power on the ignition 1 voltage circuit from the left instrument panel fuse block, through the body wiring harness junction block. Ground is provided by the ground circuits through the left instrument panel junction block and splice pack.

The sensor within the [1][2]inside air temperature sensor assembly receives a 5-volt reference signal from the HVAC module software on the inside air temperature sensor signal circuit. That varied reference signal is sent back to the HVAC module software over the low reference circuit and the IP wiring harness junction block.

The lower air temperature sensor provides the HVAC module software with the temperature of the heat in the ductwork. A 5-volt reference signal is sent over the lower discharge air temperature sensor signal circuit to the sensor. That varied reference signal is sent back to the HVAC module software over the low reference circuit and the right instrument panel junction block.

The upper air temperature sensor provides the HVAC module software with the temperature of the A/C in the ductwork. A 5-volt reference signal is sent over the upper discharge air temperature sensor signal circuit to the sensor. That varied reference signal is sent back to the HVAC module software over the low reference circuit and the right instrument panel junction block.

The outside ambient temperature sensor provides the HVAC module software with the temperature outside the vehicle. A 5-volt reference signal is sent over the ambient air temperature sensor signal circuit to the sensor. That varied reference signal is sent back to the HVAC module software over the low reference circuit and the right instrument panel junction block.
