Transfer Case Disassemble (Continued)31. Remove the synchronizer assembly retaining ring.
32. Remove the synchronizer ring.
33. Remove the synchronizer hub.
34. Remove the sprocket hub retaining ring.
35. Remove the sprocket hub.
36. Remove the front input shaft seal
37. Remove the front input shaft retaining ring.
38. Remove the planetary gear assembly.
39. Remove the input shaft retaining ring.
40. Remove the input shaft thrust plate,
41. Remove the input shaft thrust washer.
42. Remove the input shaft assembly.
Important: For the super heavy duty version of the NVG 261, it maybe necessary to rotate the input shaft bearing in the front case in order to gain access to the retaining ring.
When removing the retaining ring for the input shaft bearing in the super heavy duty version of the NVG 261, the retaining ring must be fully expanded and then remove the input shaft bearing. DO NOT release the retaining ring until the input shaft bearing has been removed.
43. Remove the input shaft bearing retaining ring.
44. Remove the front input shaft bearing.
45. Using a flat tipped screw driver, pry the inner race back.
46. Slip the screw driver between the races at the axial sealing lips.
47. Pry the outer race out of the case.
48. Remove the front output shaft retaining ring.
49. Remove the front output shaft assembly.
50. Remove the front output shaft bearing retaining ring.
51. Remove the front output shaft bearing.
52. Remove the poppet assembly.
53. Remove the sector shaft lever retaining bolt.
54. Remove the sector shaft lever.
55. Remove the sector shaft from the front case half.
56. Remove the sector shaft bearing and the seal.
