Engine Flywheel Installation (Automatic Transmission)

- Tools Required
- J 44643 Flywheel Hold Tool
- J 36660-A Torque/Angle Meter





1. Install the flywheel to the crankshaft.
2. Install the flywheel washer to the flywheel with the beveled side facing the engine.

Notice: This component uses bolts with a preapplied molybdenum disulfide coating for thread lubrication.
Do not remove the coating or use any additional lubricant. Improperly lubricated threads will adversely affect the bolt torque and clamp load. Improper bolt torque and clamp load can lead to engine damage.

3. Install NEW flywheel screws.





4. Install the J 44643 to lock the flywheel.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Tighten the flywheel screws in the proper sequence.
- 1st step 78 Nm (58 ft. lbs.).
- 2nd step 60 degrees using J 36660-A.
- 3rd step 60 degrees using J 36660-A.
6. Confirm the tightening torque is at least 274 Nm (202 ft. lbs.) with a torque wrench.
