Electric Park Lock Module

Electric Park Lock Module - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Floor Shift)

- Tools Required
- J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture
- J 42640 Steering Column Anti Rotation Pin





1. Put the steering column and J 41352 into a vise.
2. Insert J 42640 into the lower trim cover.





3. Use a small screwdriver to pull the filler plug out of the bottom of the lower trim cover.





4. Insert the small screwdriver into the filler plug hole in the bottom of the lower trim cover.
5. Use the screwdriver to push up on the manual override of the electric park lock (1).
6. Insert the key into the ignition.
7. Turn the key to the LOCK position. Remove the key.





8. Remove the 2 pan head tapping screws (1) from the lower trim cover (2).





9. Remove the lower trim cover from the upper trim cover in the following way:
9.1. Tilt the lower trim cover down.
9.2. Slide the lower trim cover backward in order to disengage the locking tabs.





10. Remove the 2 TORX(R) head screws (1) from the upper trim cover (2).
11. Remove the upper trim cover (2) from the steering column.





12. Remove the black connector (2) from the electric park lock (1).





13. Pry the electric park lock (2) off of the electronic lock module assembly (1).

Assemble

- J 42640 Steering Column Anti Rotation Pin





1. Snap the electric park lock (2) onto the electronic lock module assembly (1).





2. Install the black connector (2) into the electric park lock (1).





3. Install the upper trim cover (2) onto the steering column.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Screw the 2 TORX(R) head screws (1) into the upper trim cover (2).
Tighten
Tighten the 2 TORX(R) head screws to 1.5 Nm (13 inch lbs.).





5. Install the lower trim cover onto the upper trim cover in the following way:
5.1. Match the tab slots on the lower trim cover with the locking tabs on the upper trim cover.
5.2. Tilt the lower trim cover up.
5.3. Slide the lower forward until the locking tabs snap into the tab slots.





6. Screw the 2 pan head tapping screws (1) into the lower trim cover (2).
Tighten
Tighten the 2 pan head tapping screws to 3.5 Nm (31 inch lbs.).





7. Remove J 42640 from the lower trim cover.
8. Remove the steering column and J 41352 from the vise.
