4. Front Housing Disassemble
Front Housing Disassemble^ Tools Required
- J 23907 Slide Hammer with Bearing Adaptor
- J 36511 Oil Plug Hex Bit
- J 36800 Shift Rail Bushing Remover
Important: Only remove the shift rail bearings if faulty.
1. Use the J 23907 (1) and J 36800 (2) in order to remove the front shift rail bearing from the clutch housing.
2. Use the J 36511 in order to remove the oil fill plug.
3. Remove the vent if necessary. The vent is pressed into the case and can be removed with a pair of pliers.
4. Inspect the input shaft bearing.
5. Remove the input shaft bearing if faulty.
6. Inspect the front countershaft bearing race.
7. Remove the front countershaft race if faulty.
^ Use a punch to bend in one side of the race.
^ Work the race out of the case.
