Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement-On VehicleRemoval Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the steering column trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle.
3. Disconnect the steering column electrical connectors.
4. Disconnect the multifunction switch connectors (2) from the steering column electrical connector (1).
5. Remove the steering column wiring harness from the wiring harness strap.
6. Remove the wire harness straps from the steering column wire harness.
7. Remove the multifunction switch mounting screws.
8. Remove the multifunction switch.
Installation Procedure
Important: The multifunction switch electrical contact must rest on the cancelling cam assembly.
1. Install the multifunction switch.
1.1. Use a small blade screwdriver in order to compress the electrical contact.
1.2. Move the multifunction switch into position.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the multifunction switch mounting screws.
- Tighten the multifunction switch mounting screws to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
3. Connect the multifunction switch electrical connectors (2) to the steering column electrical connector (1).
4. Connect the steering column electrical connector to the instrument panel wire harness.
5. Install the wire harness straps to the steering column wire harness.
6. Install the steering column wire harness to wiring harness strap.
7. Install the steering column trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement- On Vehicle.
8. Enable the SIR System. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
