Rear Door Lock Replacement (E54)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the trim panel. Refer to Rear Door Trim Panel Replacement (Cargo Doors) (Rear Door Trim Panel Replacement (Cargo Doors))Rear Door Trim Panel Replacement (E54) (Rear Door Trim Panel Replacement (E54)).
2. Separate the water deflector at the perforations. Use a sharp-bladed tool if needed. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement (Service and Repair).




3. Remove the control rods from the lock assembly.

1. Pry the clip anchor out of the hole.
2. Push the clip away from the lever.
3. Pull the rod and the clip away from the lever.

4. Remove the screws that retain the lock to the door.
5. Remove the lock from the door.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the clips to the lock.
2. Install the lock to the door.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the screws that retain the lock to the door.

Tighten the screws that retain the lock to the door to 11 Nm (97 lb.in.).

4. Install the control rods through the clips to the lock assembly.
5. Install the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Install the trim panel. Refer to Rear Door Trim Panel Replacement (Cargo Doors) (Rear Door Trim Panel Replacement (Cargo Doors))Rear Door Trim Panel Replacement (E54) (Rear Door Trim Panel Replacement (E54)).
