Horn Switch Replacement - on Vehicle

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the steering wheel inflator module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Restraint Systems.
3. Remove the horn plunger contact from the steering wheel.
4. Remove the horn switch mounting screws from the steering wheel.
5. Remove the horn switch.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the horn switch to the steering wheel.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the horn switch mounting screws.
- Tighten the horn switch mounting screws to 5.5 Nm (50 inch lbs.).
3. Install the horn plunger contact to the cam tower in the steering wheel.
4. Install the steering wheel inflator module to the steering wheel. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Restraint Systems.
5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
